What a fun little blog, though of course I don’t spend a lot of time at the parenting sites, for obvious reason: I go to niece-bugging sites, and nephew-nagging, and sponsee-hassling. But they don’t tend to nominate those for awards . . . which makes Jesus sad. It says so, right there in the Gospel of Matthew:
Blessed are those who show teenagers how to check their oil.
Blessed are those tho remind college students that they really ought to keep track of their expenses, so they’ll be able to make a tentative budget once they are out there on their own. And, by the way, a little hypocrisy here is fine; it’s not Pharisaical in this context.
The Lord said that. No, really, He did.
Or, wait . . . oh. It looks like I added that in the margins, in pencil. Oops.

Oh, don’t stop there. Blessed are those who show their teenaged daughters how to change a flat tire. Having done so myself, my daughter was chagrined to report that she had performed the task in the high school parking lot, before a crowd of onlookers.
The chagrin came from the fact that she got four calls asking about a date that night. I had warned her, sometime before, that shallow men chased after the bimbo girls. Smart men chased after capable, clever girls.
And thankee kindly for the link!

Given the choice of spending their last dollar on Gasoline or a qt of lubricating Oil, guess which choice the average teenager will make?

Oh, as a teen, I did that many times.
