The “Stacy McCain Is a Racist” Meme.

Date October 4, 2009

Apparently, Rachel Maddow is now using it as a way of smearing Sarah Palin via a sort of guilt-by-association technique, since Sarah’s ghostwriter once co-authored a book with Stacy.

I haven’t seen any evidence whatsoever that Stacy’s a racist, or a white supremacist, or anything of the sort. Certainly, I’ve seen him buying drinks for black people, so I can’t give those who sling the accusation around much credit. The man can’t even bring himself to shun lesbians, for crying out loud, and he’s a social conservative! The least he can do is shy away from those who have built-in suntans.

Any chance that this old allegation about McCain is simply being trotted out to slander Palin—the racist who married a native American?

He links me a lot and I’m Mexican, so I’m not sure how racist he could be… unless he’s thinking of joining MeCHA and using me as some kind of character reference? In which case he’ll be sorely disappointed; I’ve pissed off the “Centro Aztlan” chapters more than once.

Maybe RSM’s only a racist around sluts of color? Or am I getting my threads mixed up here?

The Native American card can be a real mindmesser for lefties. One woman I march with is Cherokee and Delaware, and it drives them up the wall that she was a patriot before there was even a country to be patriotic about…

Interesting. Let’s test it. If RSM stops “talking” to me after I tell him my mother’s mom was Creek-Cherokee and my Dad’s mom was a jew whose family - well some did and many didn’t - escaped the holocaust to come here - if he ignores me from here on out then we’ll know fer sure. *g* WTH is wrong with Maddow? Has she never in her life actually met any real people? She definitely needs to get out more.

I’ve been friends with Stacy McCain for fifteen years and in all that time I have been married to a Filipina. If Stacy is a racist, which I don’t believe for one second, then he is the most broad-minded bigot I have ever met.

I wonder how despicable smear merchants like Maddow can look in the mirror each morning?

I watched Stacy at the DNC last year. I’m an Injun: no problem. Michelle Malkin was there with us: no problem. Except that Stacy and I were competing over who thought Michelle was hotter. I saw him around black people: no obvious problems.

I think Maddow is talking through her hat.

Careful, Attila, you’ll ruin my image. It is a point of honor that a professional gonzo journalist never picks up the tab, even for his own drinks.

The trick? I went up to the bar and said, “My name’s McCann” — flash press credential quickly — “that’s my wife over there, the one guzzling gin. Three Corona’s — and put it on her tab.”

I don’t think so. There’s another half to it: marching to the sound of the guns, and swarming whoever on the other side is already under attack.

With aggressive, confident, repetitions of the meme, Rachel Maddow quickly won assent that of course R.S. McCain (whoever that is) is a racist (no evidence needed) and (tacitly) can we please get back on topic?

If others then do the same, then that “wide belief” that R.S. McCain is a racist goes from being an assertion based only on the pathetic echo chamber at Little Green Footballs to fact. Instant plausibility, and safety in numbers!

This is also how a couple of guys on TV got Michael Steel noding and in effect agreeing that of course Republicans en masse are like “Nazi Germany” (link): social swarming.

Not many people will swerve right off course to challenge slurs by someone who is aggressive and acts like they know what they’re talking about. They’ll get a feeling like, if they challenge this, they may be making themselves suspect. They’ll start to back-pedal, and once they do that they’re lost, because the aggressor will push more.

However I have not much use for people who will readily betray friends, causes and principles that ought to be dear to them rather than talk back, signal their dissent, demand proof etc.. I don’t even think much of people who’ll readily go along damning total strangers like that, just because other people are doing it.

At some point, you have to be willing to be a 100% friend or ally, or a complete partisan or true believer. You have to be uncool. You have to concede nothing.

Stacey’s going to be hit again, just because more people now have seen a blow struck at him. They’ll pile on, knowing exactly nothing, but hoping that somebody else does, and wanting blood.

There’s only one right way to react. Give ‘em nothing. Lead ‘em nowhere. Tell ‘em to put up or shut up. And above all point to the context, that is the madness of Charles Johnson, and his years-long campaign of trashing all sorts of people. They can’t all be fascists. (For a start: Pamela Geller, goose-stepper!?) And once you get a concession that yes Charles Johnson does routinely libel innocent people, the battle is won. There’s no credible charge to answer - for R.S. McCain or anyone.

After meeting Stacy McCain on 9/12, I’m pretty sure that Social Conservative really means he likes to party.

Until it’s time to pay the bill. Then he’s doing a ‘blog posting’ somewhere else.

I’ve followed McCain’s reporting on his blog and TAS for some time, and have never seen the slightest indication of racism. His true sin is in failing to kneel before the Left’s Sacred Cows, and it is one the Left deems unforgivable and authorizes any Leftist to punish with impunity in an unspoken fatwa.

No, the solvent would render him mercifully incoherent and significantly more sensible than his current state. I fear he’s just been sniffing the bicycle seats. A base habit, ’tis true, BUT he can tell what you had for lunch and if you are on any medications.
