Juan Williams
October 17, 2009
. . . has his “Aha!” moment, via Johnny Dollar:
It’s the race-baiters who are picking cotton on the Democratic plantation. (Note: I’m not saying all black Democrats are Uncle Toms. I’m saying that the real slavery is the intellectual slavery that attempts to marginalize anyone who steps even slightly out of line.)
Williams is still a liberal, and last I knew, Tammy Bruce was staying with the Democratic Party. We need good liberals, too—but liberalism works best when it remembers the actual tradition of Classical Liberalism, and the need for fair debate, and a free exchange of ideas.
Juan Williams is a decent man who falls squarely within both definitions of “liberal.” And may God bless him for it.

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call Juan Williams a decent man, but he does seem to have more of a sense of shame than, say, Cece Connolly (sp?) or Mara Liasson.

Excellent post. Juan has always been intellectually honest, and that’s what I admire about him, even though my views don’t often line up with his. Tammy Bruce lays out the case against the Fauxbama and his Far Left tactics as eloquently as anyone except she forgot to mention the puppet master funding it all, George Soros.
What’s embarrassing is how many sportswriters and sportscasters are willing to go along with the “Rush is a divisive figure” narrative. Especially when the NFL lets Michael Vick back into the league and Keith Olbermoron anchors the halftime report for Sunday Night Football. First, they came for the political talk show hosts…

Look like it was quite the eye opener for Juan.. Something that Black Conservatives face almost every day..

And I think what you describe as “the actual tradition of classical liberalism” IS modern conservatism. Sadly, I’m seeing fewer and fewer signs of it in the GOP leadership…

Hm. Mebbe I shoulda read your bio before posting that last one. We’ll just take your “well, duh” as read, shall we?

No, no: it was a timely reminder, and a point I should have made more explicitly in the post.

Great video segment. I’m going to post it, too.
Then I will be able to link LMA and get a million hits today!
