Dinner with My Wonderful Girl
November 7, 2009
. . . and I may watch a movie and go to be early (for me). So you might not hear from me again until tomorrow.
My Church sponsee had another squabble with her family this evening. Perfectly normal stuff, for a teenager. Naturally, I had the impulse to give her all sorts of advice, but that’s not my place; I just listened. If things get to a point such that she needs tactical counsel, I’ll know: either the Holy Spirit will move me, or her mother will call me up and tell me she’s at her wit’s end. And then we’ll have to discuss Diplomacy. (The people-game—not the board game.)
Instead, we ate Mexican food and then went to the newish mall in La Canada, where she bought hand soap and I bought pillow cases.
I’m quite astonished that she’s become so important to me: it’s like having another niece—but one who is nearby, rather than in Chi-Town.
It pretty much rawks.
