So. Gambling.

Is it a sin? Discuss.
What do you mean, that isn’t about gambling?
And does anyone recognize that house where the video was filmed? I feel like I know it, but I’m having a mid-40s moment. (Fine . . . a late-40s moment.) I just can’t identify the architect right now, and it’s driving me mad.

I still haven’t heard a single lady Gaga cut I haven’t really liked. I[’ve got to buy an album.
I think it’s the Stahl House, Case Study House #22, Pierre Koenig. It’s been dressed with some statues and stuff, though, I think.

Just a luxury villa on PokerIsland (bwin online gambling syndicate).

Otherwise known as Ibiza (off Valencia, Spain), btw.

I think that’s it, Charlie! I was pretty sure it was the one from that famous pic . . .

Heh, her songs fall into the musical version of other geek gals my age who enjoy Twilight.

So the real house and location doesn’t matter?
No wonder we’re about to end civilization over fake global warming hysteria.

DEER LORD, NO!
As I posted to Ace’s place when latest Twilight came up, I’ll be out back sharpening stakes, growing wolvesbane, and casting silver bullets.

Darrell, it’s glaringly not the house in the pokerland video: look at the pool, which in the Lady Gaga video has several corners instead of being a plain rectangle, or at the columns, which go up to a flat modern roof instead of Moorish-influence arches and domes.

Darth-
just keep in mind their secret weakness– aim for the face.
My bet would be that it’s a sound-stage that’s been set up to look like the place Darrell linked– especially given the long-flat-blonde-with-big-glasses on that page.

Darrell, you are right 99% of the time, but when it comes to the pool scenes I think you’re mistaken.
There might have been multiple shoots for the vid; I think the poker scenes, and possibly the indoor party scene, could easily have been shot elsewhere. But the structure in most of the exterior shots is undeniably modern, somewhere right of the Neutra style. I looked again, and wasn’t able to spot that telltale cantilever to clinch Charlie’s ID. But it’s a midcentury-style house.

The background, topography, declination of the sun, vegetation, etc. isn’t right for the Stahl House. There are hundreds of luxury private estates on Ibiza, and architects take inspiration from, er…borrow, er….outright copy famous designs–especially for clients like new-money, Euro-mob swells tied in with Russian gangs involved in online gaming who don’t care if anyone will harrumph that it is only a copy. Not that any of the bwin crowd are, mind you, involved with the mob or illegal activities. I see now where Wiki says I’m right. And you know Wiki is never wrong.
“The music video for “Poker Face”, directed by Ray Kay and aided by Anthony Mandler,[48] was filmed at the luxury villa on bwin PokerIsland.[49] bwin also provided the poker equipment and obtained product placements in return.[50] The video premiered on October 22, 2008. It is set by a pool, as well as in a mansion. It begins with Gaga emerging out of the pool wearing a shiny masquerade mask and a black full-body leotard, with two Great Danes beside her (Lava and her son Rumpus)[51].”
