James Rainey and the Giant Peach

Oh, man.
ACORN’s latest sting video is out, and it’s good. As AllahP explains, this one is special because it features a woman whom Los Angeles Times writer James Rainey got a quote from to support his contention weeks ago that ACORN was getting a bad rap from Hannah Giles, James O’Keefe, and Andrew Breitbart.
Patterico called this one weeks ago: when Breitbart published another vid several days back that featured someone in the L.A. ACORN offices drawing a line at child prostitution, Patterico said there was likely another shoe about to drop.
And so there was: the woman James Rainey got his quote from, Lavelle Stewart, about how Giles’s odd behavior raised red flags for her? She’s the one offering this time to help out with the underage prostitution racket.
Man; I love this country.

UPDATE II: No, I was not making a joke about Ms. Giles’s physique in the title. Come on: you guys know me better than that. I only joke about my own boobies. And Meghen McCain’s.
UPDATE III: More from Dan Riehl. And Tim Cavanaugh at Reason Magazine makes Rainey his bitch. The L.A. Times’s “L.A. Now” section gives the video story a mention, leaving out Rainey’s embarrassment.
UPDATE IV: BTW—who says it’s hard to be a pimp in L.A.? James O. makes it look easy.
UPDATE V: This coverage in the L.A. Times‘ “Top of the Ticket” is particularly rich, since it contains a statement from the local ACORN office, but doesn’t attempt to refute the parts of the statement that are clearly absurd and in conflict with the direct evidence presented in the video.
The video is there, but the LAT clearly hopes its readers won’t actually watch it. Better to give as much ink as possible to the ACORN denials.
