The problem with healthcare reform is that we all know it’s going to be losing money from the very beginning, so there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that any recommendation that has the effect of scaling back our consumption of healthcare will not amount to an attempt at rationing.

In addition to which, government’s involvement will have the effect of making this a bit more “one size fits all,” so different attitudes toward risk within the population will be smoothed over: those who would be inclined to take risks won’t be allowed to. Those who like to play it safe by getting more tests up front won’t be allowed to.

The government will decide, one way or the other.

This is ghastly.
