A short time ago I left the following comment on Spadilio‘s site*:
As someone who may well have lost drinking privileges with both Patterico and Goldstein over their recent . . . disagreement . . . I don’t hold with comparing either of those guys to Charles Johnson / Andrew Sullivan.
Or, if one must make the Patrick-Chuckie comparison, it should be tempered with the caveat that Patrick continues to do good work in his crusade against the BS at the Los Angeles Times, and that there is such a difference in degree between his meltdowns vs. those of Johnson/Sullivan that it truly constitutes a difference in kind.
Patrick is not capable of discussing Goldstein in even an oblique way without losing his shit. Goldstein can be a bit hypersensitive, and is prone to bouts of machismo, but is a bit more objective about Patrick than Patrick is about him. A bit.
As a practical matter, they can both be trusted as thoughtful bloggers, provided they aren’t discussing each other. Johnson and Sullivan cannot, no matter what it is that they are discussing.
Now please don’t set the curtains on fire; I paid good money for those.
* Or maybe I didn’t. I skimmed later and did not find it, so perhaps Pixy’s hamsters were too tired to actually take the remark.

A completely accurate assesment. Maybe once the dust dies down they can stop their “Ah, as this footnote clearly states,” and “I said what I said whatever I said!” swords and be friends again.
But if we weren’t all flawed, how Liberals wouldn’t be able to rub us not being perfect in our faces, and then where would we be?
Well, Joy, if you’ve gone this far, you might as well come on over and enjoy our first-ever Neo-Confederate Music Festival.
They both have too much talent to waste it smiting each other.
Dan Collins is an idiot for not recognizing that the only one with talent is ME. He is banned of course. From the internets. Let him know he is to leave at once.
One of my followers made this very excellent suggestion:
Not that you need one because Reynolds is clearly a racist apologist. However, reader polls are definitely the way to go. But let me suggest it is important to have properly selected and screened readers before you do so.
I also posted this at RSM’s site, even though it made me feel dirty for doing so.
Do we need to have another chat about sockpuppeting? (Note to readers: those last two comments weren’t actually by Charles Johnson.)
But Joy, I am even better than the aging bitter physical Charles Johnson. If that is possible.
More gears on that bad-ass bicycle, huh?
