Another Successful Airing of Stage Right!

by Little Miss Attila on February 18, 2010

Larry O’Conner broadcast Stage Right live last night from the lobby bar at the Mariott, where CPAC will be held today—starting in a few hours. Larry, of course, writes for Andrew Breitbart’s “Bigs”—Big Government, Big Hollywood, (natch) and Big Journalism. He’s a stagecraft expert, and a serious broadcaster who brings professionalism (not to mention awesome mics and a great mixing board) to his in-bar broadcasts.

And everyone was there in the bar, the drinkers along with the teetotalers: this may be, as they say, a CPAC for the record books. “We’ve never had a pre-game party,” someone remarked. And it’s true. Why people want to party hard on a year that I have Actual Responsibilities is beyond me, of course. But here they are, and it’s a beautiful thing.

Big events were afoot, including the extraordinary occurrence of Robert Stacy McCain buying me a drink—a charge he may try to deny later on, on the basis that a real “gonzo journalist” never picks up the tab. But he owed me, for a couple of reasons. He raised an eyebrow at the bar when I insisted on Tanqueray gin, but of course Tanqueray is as low as I go: the man got off easy. Easy.

And, of course, we’ll have a shout-out to my blogging crew, including our Fearless Leader, Mr. Kevin McKeever of Bank of Kev, easily the most glamorous of the conference sponsors. In my unbiased opinion, uncolored by the fact that he flew me out here.

This is going to be a very good CPAC, indeed.

Have you ever tried Plymouth Gin? It’s the best I’ve ever tasted and is especially good in Martini’s and Gimlets. Make Stacy buy your next Martini with Plymouth in the mix.
