“Crash the Tea Party”

by Little Miss Attila on April 11, 2010

Could it get any more charming than this? I doubt it. From the “Crash the Tea Party” FaceBook page:

“Crash the Tea Party”

About Us

Who We Are: A nationwide network of Democrats who are all sick and tired of that loose affiliation of racists, homophobes and morons who constitute the fake grass-roots movement which calls itself The Tea Party.

What We Want: To dismantle and demolish the Tea Party by non-violent means and to discredit the Tea Party movement with mainstream Americans.

How We Will Do It: We will infiltrate the Tea Party and crash their events. We will act on behalf of the Tea Party in ways that exaggerate or mis-characterize their least appealing qualities (misspelled protest signs, wild claims, racist and homophobic signs, etc.) to distance them from mainstream America and damage the public’s opinion of them.

The deception and sabotage of free speech are wicked, but not nearly as bad as the sentence structure and word usage. Who wrote that call to arms? A cursory review gives us this list of grammatical and stylistic errors:

• “Who” for “which”;
• “Which” for “that”;
• “Non-violent,” hyphenated {{shudder}};
• Comma missing/run-on sentence;
• “Their” for “its”;
• A hyphen where it doesn’t belong;
• A missing hyphen where one ought to be;
• Word repetition, and not for poetic effect;
• “Their” for “its”;
• “Them” for “it”;
• “Them” for “it.”

I you are going to lie and cheat, may I at least request that you not abuse the English language along the way?

UPDATE: Its profile also contains this: “Our goal is to derail the fake Tea Party movement by crashing the party and highlighting the absurdity of them.”

No—it really is worded like that. Check it out.

h/t: Charlie Martin. He held a gun to my head and forced me to shoot borderline-illiterate fish in a metaphorical barrel.

UPDATE II:

UPDATE III: As Mikal pointed out, the FB page was actually put up by a (stylistically challenged) freedom-lover:

If you want to argue about how successful the stimulus plan has been – let’s rock. If you want to defend the healthcare mandate that comes without a public option – I am here. But if you want to keep throwing out slanderous, incorrect and ineffective personal attacks on Tea Parties – show up in person on Thursday so we can look you in the eye.

If only I thought he’d punked his lefty friends as well as he punked me. (Generic “he”—I actually think it might be a woman. Lots of Tea Partiers are, you know.)

a quick browse through the discussion board shows that it is dominated by mostly polite tea partiers asking their hosts to come to the meetings and protests for real and see for themselves what they are like.

results may be unpredictable.

So let’s have a few Republicans infiltrate leftist rallies. Bring homophobic signs to rallies in support of black rights, racist signs to rallies in support of gay rights, and so forth.

I don’t want to descend to their level.

I want to set up a site where pictures of racist, homophobic, etc signs with the people associated can be posted, as many of the perpetrators unmasked as possible, and all associated with statements repudiation the signs themselves.

Check the updated version of the page. The site itself is a hoax set up by an Tea Party organizer to lure moonbats.

How long will it be before one of the Tea Party Crashers gets carried away and burns a “Don’t Tread On Me” flag? Because, you know, that’s what they really want to do.

I’d forgotten about “Crash” by The Primitives. Well chosen.

Love your editing. And here I was thinking they were all out of work English majors. Do you think the THC levels in their bloodstreams is so high they have forgotten English 101?
