It seemed to be a decent one, so I took the following actions:
1) FaceBooked it live; and
2) Got up to wake my husband up from his nap, in case the thing worked itself up into high gear. It was over around the time I reached the bedroom.
Then, of course, I FaceBooked my estimate of the magnitude on both FB accounts before going to check. I was wrong in the sense that I guessed it was a Magnitude 5 if it was in Los Angeles County—but it was a magnitude 5 in San Diego County (or thereabouts, going by the map). Should have known that at least one of the Waterford goblets would have taken a swan-dive onto the floor, rather than rattling against its neighbor, with a Magnitude 5.
So my earthquake-meter was a bit off.
UPDATE: It sounds like it wasn’t too bad, though the report of a “sonic boom” kind of noise worries me. Up here it was more of a rolling type that escalated a bit and then tailed off.
UPDATE II: Actually, just two counties over, down by Palm Springs. Details here.
