On the Chevy Volt

Date July 28, 2010

Glenn’s got the rumblings about it perhaps being an unwise investment, and points out with dark cheer that GM is gambling with our money, now—so they can’t really lose if this turns into a boondoggle.

But here’s the thing: if the government wanted to convince us that the price of elecricity would be going down as gas prices went up, wouldn’t they be approving the construction of nuclear power plants? Instead, we have their allies, writers in elite media outlets, telling us that people on the humid East Coast shouldn’t be running their air-conditioning this time of year—and yet we should all get electric cars. What’s wrong with that picture?

Have you driven a Ford, lately?

    ‘”What’s wrong with that picture?”

The bad faith it was written in?

Obama recently approved $8 billion in loan guarantees to jump start nuclear power plant construction.

  2. Darrell said:

Did he streamline the licensing process? (That was the rope-a-dope process used to kill nuclear projects–death by 13 years of interest during construction that couldn’t be recovered in the rate base).

Did he tell the Left-wing enviro groups to stop with the lawsuits/injunctions/requests for new environmental impact studies/etc.?
No? Then let’s see what those loan guarantees will do for the industry.
With Yucca Mountain “not an option” even though the law requires it, where is all that accumulated waste going to go to keep those older facilities running? So many questions, no solutions from Democrats except lip service.

How many nuclear plants were built under Bush and the Republican Congress?

Darrell is just jealous, because the left wing has the freedom to be enviro groups with right wing policies. That shatters the whole left/right thinking. And causes cognitive dissonance: I had to look up that word.

Can’t you read, ponce? The Left was playing rope-a-dope, the utilities were spending $1,000,000/day in interest that had to be paid by shareholders because none of that went into the rate base until the plant started producing electricity for sale. Four years construction cycles turned into thirteen years.

Enviro groups shutting down anything that moves? What about that strikes you as right wing? Pro-Capitalist? Becuase they use the law? No, they use Leftist judges that make it up as they go along. That Arizona ruling against IDs proves that. Existing Federal law– to Section 264 of the Immigration and Nationality Act provides that, “Every alien in the United States … shall be issued a certificate of alien registration or an alien registration receipt card in such form and manner and at such time as shall be prescribed under regulations….” It also states, “Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him…. The Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551, is issued to all Permanent Residents as evidence of alien registration and their permanent status in the US. The card must be in your possession at all times. This requirement means that you are not only required to have a currently valid Form I-551 at all times, but also that you must carry your currently valid Form I-551 on your person at all times.

You are an ass Azmat. Nazis were Socialists and you and you pal ponce are too. I didn’t have to look up “cognitive dissonance.” I’ve been dealing with you for too long now not to know.

I sense a lot of anger in you today, Darrell.

Was it the Arizona law getting spanked by the courts that touched off your tantrum or something else?

Hey Darrell, check out your pal Reagan, see if you agree:

The corruption of the judicial process?

Heaven forbid a judge strikes down the Arizona crackers’ obviously un-Constitutional law!

  10. Darrell said:

Reagan went for one time amnesty contigent on setting up a system so that it could never happen again. Anything about that you don’t understand? We’re at the “again” part in case you are suffering a brain fart.

Reaffirming Federal Law by a State is Un-Constitutional? Now I get it: We don’t even speak a common language.

  11. ponce said:

Let’s face it Darrell, the only language you and your fellow wingnuts speak is whine.

  12. Darrell said:

That doesn’t even make sense, ponce. I don’t think you should get paid for that troll at all. Nutroots don’t communicate. They use whatever words will give them power, absent the usual features of communication like facts, logic, and truth. Thus, sanctuary cities that
abrogate Federal law are “Constitutional” in your Bizarro World while States that uphold Federal law are somehow breaking it. That kind of bullshit may make zealots like you mess your pants but regular people don’t buy it. Look for a major pushback soon.

  13. Azmat Hussain said:

Darrell: he said and I quote”I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots who have lived here even if sometime back they have lived here illegally.” Secondly he was compassionate for those who were working illegally, and was not happy with the employers who were exploiting the illegals.

“Hire them on starvation wages and the illegal’s can’t complain because of their illegal status.”

You are right we need more leaders like Reagan.
