That Missile Out of Oxnard or Wherever?

by Little Miss Attila on November 9, 2010

It wasn’t me; that’s all I know.

Via Insty, who points out that if this is a real missile, it’s a real problem–no matter what the Pentagon says–and remarks: “Most likely explanation — something we did, or are okay with because it was an ally, or some sort of optical illusion making a jet contrail (perhaps from a high-performance military jet) look like a rocket launch. However, all other explanations are far from benign.

Emphasis added.

I was taking delivery of my new Chinese sub when I asked “What does this do?”
Now I know. Sorry! My bad!

Seem to be some bugs to work out with trajectory, though. I expect a cleaner flight line for that kind of money.
But what do you expect when the Lidu Fireworks Corporation supplies the pyrotechnics?

Those old Golf-class clones the Chinese turn out need some tweaking. Next time try using Bullseye powder instead of Unique. And look into getting a set of Wolf replacement springs.

Nah, I got the Jin-class (Type 094-D) SSBN, with the 16 tube option, and the
Julang-3 (prototype) sea-launched ballistic missiles. Nothing fancy, but you can’t beat the value for the buck.

Years and years and years of training, and you still pressed the red button, didn’t ya?

As I told my new friends in the FBI and NSA, it was Flight AWE808 from Hawaii to Phoenix.
My Chinese sub won’t be delivered ’til next month.
This should clear it up.

If it was a plane, it was ascending at an hellacious rate of speed.

Read the link. The contrail is actually horizontal to the Earth’s plane–an optical illusion, as the object approaches the camera.
The TV people can verify it by filming it any day around 5 PM. It had been filmed before. That’s American West, Flight 808 from Hawaii to Phoenix.

Darrel, I’ve seen the pictures. Especially this one picture that shows the contrail crossing a cirrus cloud and an acute angle. Not a right angle, but still acute. That thing was ascending, and at a great rate of speed.

But did you go to

?

People never go to links for some reason. They have the cartesian geometry and everything.
Sometimes you just can’t trust your lying eyes. And this is just one of them.
