It’s the main reason I got one (before iPads)–the free, albeit slow, internet access. The main trouble is that the memory is so small and it can’t cope with pages with lots of graphics. Obviously, no looking at photos or videos. Also the keyboard (they don’t WANT us using it for anything except buying more books from Amazon…Oddly, my 2nd generation Kindle has better reception than the later models (I think the American models were partially crippled to limit one’s browsing to GLACIALLY SLOW searches and reading text only pages. At least that was my husband’s experience with the newer Kindle he got about a year ago, as versus my 2nd generation one (which my oldest kid pounced on happily after I got an iPad).

My husband loves his Kindle. We’re quite pleased with the 3-G capability, and we were pleasantly surprised that it works out here on our farm.
John does not go anywhere without it, and when he travels, his suitcases no longer weigh 100 pounds due to the books he used to take with him.
