What the Hell Is Going on in Japan?

Strange photo-ops? Incompetent radiation workers? It’s fishy.

We aren’t going to know what really happened there for a good long time.

And . . . no, I don’t think that means radiation is going to reach California in unhealthy doses; it’s thousands of miles away. Across one of the world’s less-trivial oceans.

And there’s this:

Dear news media:

Remember back in ’50s and early ’60s, when we set off something like 900 atomic bombs in Nevada? And how we just let the fallout blow wherever and it landed all over the eastern U.S.?

(She means radiation, as opposed to actual “fallout,” which has a technical meaning explained by Donald Sensing here. But the idea is the same.)

UPDATE: It appears the word is used in two slightly different ways; good to know.

Well, now we’ll have some more genetic variety in Cali. Now if we can only adjust conditions to select in favor of intelligence, instead of against it, future Californians will stop voting so liberal.

Too much of the operating manual,
not enough common sense, creative thinking.

Thank you for the link!

(…and no, I meant “fallout”, which was the radioactive particulates scattered through the atmosphere by the bombs we set off in Nevada.)

Ah, it sounds like there is a specialized meaning of the term to which Sensing was accustomed.
