It is a matter of fashion, after all. The above is a photograph of FDR as a child.

Aren’t we really talking about their mothers?

Yes, Darrell. I blame the mothers for sure. No self respecting father would allow their son to be subjected to such embarrassment.

I THOUGHT that was a baby dressing-gown!

Highly amused at the ‘perverted’ quote– me thinks maybe 30 years of searching for meaning in baby’s clothing has messed up her mind a bit; some might argue that deciding to spend years on such a project indicates initial issues.

While I refuse to put a headband on my child unless she has 1) hair to hold back or 2) an 80s-themed Halloween costume, I try to make it clear she’s a girl when we go out because it really embarrasses folks if they’re not sure. When a darling little child smiles up at you, with huge lovely eyes, silky hair or fuzz, and is wearing a yellow ducky crawler… it’s hard for a lot of folks to find something utterly gender-neutral to say, because they don’t think ahead.

She still gets folks confused, because her favorite outfit this month is a “cowboy” onesie that’s dark teal with pink trim. Girl because of pink, or is it just a classic western shirt….? (Most go with guessing boy, and I don’t correct them.)

Way back when, this wouldn’t be as much of an issue. Babies weren’t out as much, and you’d probably know their name before you were expected to say something. (And you’d have a good idea if Marion or Gail indicated a boy.)

I can’t believe they mentioned that bastard, Money, without mentioning the results of his human experimentation.

Money did to Reimer what Obama’s economics team is doing to the economy.
