The (Mc)Cain Mutiny

by Little Miss Attila on May 20, 2011

The Other McCain trips and acknowledges that there are people in the GOP field for next year whose names aren’t “Herman Cain.”

And yesterday I went to see Tim Pawlenty speak at an undisclosed location. He was very good: funny, relaxed, and ready to make fun of the early awkward stages of the campaign: “my problem is, nobody knows who I am, yet.”

He honestly seems like the best of the lot to me; as much as I love Cain’s energy, I really want someone in place who has run a state, and can transition fairly quickly to running a country.

I had a few exchanges at the event yesterday with people who were concerned about Pawlenty’s flirtation with cap and trade legislation, and I had to point out that until the ClimateGate memos, we really had no way of knowing the degree to which this “consensus” on climate change had been obtained by subterfuge and manipulation.

So Pawlenty is the best of the lot, if Palin is out (which I’m pretty sure she is). And Mitch Daniels is probably my second choice, though he has more negatives.

But we really need to correct course, and at the end of the day I will support–and campaign for–anyone we nominate (provided this person is not Ron Paul or Donald Trump, neither of whom would be appreciably better than what we have now).

You’ve hit on my favorite as well. It’s as though the rest all have a fatal flaw that makes them un-electable. Tim Pawlenty remains a relative unknown, and this is strange to me since he was busting unions in Minnesota before Governor Scott Walker became the liberals favorite Dr. Evil.

Hmm? Could there be a conspiracy by popular media to ignore the good candidates and instead devote 24/7 coverage to those who don’t stand a chance of beating Obama? (Palin, Trump, Gingrich?, etc.)

Tim Pawlenty has worked for the government for the past 23 years.

I remember back when that would have been an instant disqualifier for conservatives.

Actually, I think Palin is in. And if she is in, she’ll win the nomination and the general. Did you see her on Greta?

*shameless self-plug on Palin being in.

Palin may only have the support of 9% of the Republicans, but she has the support of 100% of the Democrats.

Let me know, ponce, when you are ready to be truthful. I want to be here for that first-time event.
