I Had My First Mary Kay Appointment Today.

I loved their rep, and I dug her testimonial, even as I saw how part of the game was to sell me cosmetics, and part of it was to make me consider being a rep for MK myself.

She did a beautiful job, and I got a bunch of skincare products to check out; to me, it makes a big difference to be able to get my hands on reliably fragrance-free, hypo-allergenic moisturizers: even my dad, the cosmetic chemist, hasn’t always managed it. (He has always maintained that my allergies [and, by extension, my skin sensitivities] are in my mind. So he can mix up something “safe” for me, but because he doesn’t really believe in sensitive skin, he can’t be trusted 100% on this count.)

We’ll see if I dig the actual stuff as much as I dug the business model.

If you add mouse control to your bag of tricks, you will have quite the Mary Kay business model. I smell a pink Cadillac.

“First you set the trap; then you put on facial moisturizer. If you baited the spring-type right and placed it flush against the wall, by the time you’re done with your facial routine you’ll have a mouse to throw away.

Remember to wash your hands, now, before we begin moisturizing them.

A little shimmer is great in your blush, but remember to take off those high heels before strategically moving the couch to keep the dog away from that trap by the heating vent, or you might break a heel.

When you get home, check the traps once more before bed, and then a very gentle cleansing solution.”
