I Wrote Clint Eastwood a Letter Today.

by Little Miss Attila on February 13, 2009

I made a point of hand-writing it, and I deliberately did not draft it out in advance; it was as artless as I could make it. Just a fan letter, with clumsy word repetitions. A way of letting Eastwood know that as far as I am concerned Gran Torino went beyond entertainment (which he has created in the past as both an actor and producer) and beyond the brilliance of masterworks such as The Unforgiven and Mystic River.

I did not even tell Clint a lot about my grandfather, whom I felt I knew better after seeing the movie. Jut the fact that he—Eastwood—got it right. It made a difference to me.

I told him I had not written a fan letter to anyone else, with the possible exception of David Cassidy when I was eight years old.

I hope he does read it, though.
