It’s the Attorneys versus the Academicians!

Goldstein and Patterico. Hot Air. Hot oil. Good times. I do luvs me some wiry brunettes goin’ at it like that.

Okay, okay: As usual, I do think that Jeff is more correct on this issue than Patterico and Ace are (except for Ace’s “let’s move on” moments, which appear to be belied by his “let’s fire Michael Steele” moments). But I swear that if I hear the name “Limbaugh” one more time other than on the Rush Limbaugh show itself, I may scream, and I’ve got great lung capacity for an allergic chick: I don’t care where you are in the country; you will hear me. I like Rush. I like Michael Steele. I like Newt Gingrich. And if they can’t all get along, the least they can do is to shut up. Because we’re going to need input from all three of ’em over the next few years if we want to fix our current problems.

And, as Rush himself pointed out this morning, there isn’t a leader of the conservative movement right now, and there shouldn’t be. I’d rather have a handful of people debating ideas and strategizing than have some kind of top-down management of a movement that is supposed to be, for crying out loud, about human freedom.

Remember? Remember?

We don’t need one man or woman at the helm. We need a core of bright people to debate the issues, and figure out strategies for taking back the Legislature in 2010. By 2011 we will need a couple of people to actually run for office, but even at that point it should all be a team effort—including the winnowing of the candidates down to one, and that last man/woman standing deciding who would be the best partner to have in taking back the White House.

We don’t all have to agree on everything: let’s start with fiscal sanity and a sober foreign policy, and see where that leads us. Okay?

Or, to put it another way: who was the “Leader” of the American Revolution? Was it Paine? Washington? Jefferson? Hamilton? Franklin? Adams? Adams? Adams? Or didn’t we need all of these men and women to make it happen?

We shed a lot of blood—and were blessed with the ego-less Father George—to avoid becoming a monarchy; let’s keep it that way.

We don’t need to designate one leader–at least, not yet. When we unite behind another presidential candidate in 2012, that will require a level of trust he or she will have to have earned, but that’s a long way down the road; let’s keep our minds open right now—and our powder, dry.

Now that the HTML is fixed, I wonder what fun it would be if Limbaugh started advising the constituents of RINO Congressmen to stay home.

At the next election, I mean.

I’d rather that they vote for the challengers.

I would probably agree with Rush most of the time if I listened to him. At 72 years old and employed full time I don’t need any one to reinforce my beliefs.
Same way with religion, I have learned the hard way not to steal property or wives. I don’t care about anyones Sex life unless they force me to care. Shack up, bond with or marry whoever you like. You don’t need a permit from the state and if you insist on one you are just stirring up Shit.
If you are a Parent, meet your resposibilities.
