Stacy and Cynthia and Glenn—Oh, My!

by Little Miss Attila on March 11, 2009

Stacy McCain on gay marriage.

Cynthia Yockey on Stacy McCain.

Glenn Reynolds on Cynthia’s evaluation of Stacy’s sex appeal: “IT FIGURES THIS WOULD COME FROM A LESBIAN: How Stacy McCain became irresistible to women. I’m just sayin’ . . . .”

Finally, Stacy sends off another missive to Ms. Yockey that serves up a few traditional Christian thoughts about marriage and gay rights with a bit of humor, some confessional biographical details, and a surrealistic salad at the end. (It is certain that good women eat a surrealistic salad with their meat, whereby the Horn of Plenty becomes even more bounteous.)

Me? I’m supposed to be a Christian, but I am no good at it. I have no flair for the spiritual life, and I know it. I do agree that the word “rights” has become slightly debased. I do believe that rights cannot be conferred upon anyone by the state, or by human beings: rights come from God Himself. They don’t include cheap health care, but they do include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I accept that traditionalist Christian belief that gay men and lesbians are called to celibacy, though deep down I cannot quite get myself to agree. I accept the fact that a few radical Christians groups are able to find gays who are really, deep down, bisexual, and are able to help them to change their behavior. And if such people are happy in using the inherent plasticity of human sexuality to enrich their spiritual lives, I won’t knock it—though I do not believe one can “convert” gays/lesbians to straight lives on a large scale.

And if the Lord were alive, I believe he’d live in West Hollywood.

And I don’t think the State should be in the business of certifying marriage. The State has no business creating anything beyond civil unions. “Marriage” can only be conferred by one’s church and one’s social circle—not the government. The question of who should be adopted by whom should be settled by (1) birthmothers; (2) the philosophies of the adoption agencies themselves (after, of course, meeting the state’s safety standards for adoptive homes); and (3) the adoptive families.

Good work, Stace and Cynthia. And congrats on your Instalanche.

So are married men who spend too much time blogging, LOL! Maybe Cynthia finds me irresistible, but my wife’s had so much practice . . .

Absolutely! Not surprisingly, this has been the position of both the Democratic & Republican party in both 2004 & 2008. Even less unsurprisingly, the MSM never emphasizes this, preferring to promote the stereotype that Democrats love gays & Republicans hate gays.
