Or—if they aren’t, they should be! See Malkin’s takedown.
Oh, yeah: anyone who thinks taxes are a bit too high, or the national debt turning unsustainable, is really concerned about Brown People. Even if they are brown themselves. Because everyone knows that People of Color are happy on the plantation paying taxes.
In point of fact, I do sort of semi-consciously “track” black turnout at right-wing events, for a couple of reasons—the most important one being that blackness is the only potential external “marker” for possible Obama voters, and a healthy turnout of black people could be a sign of disillusionment by former Obama supporters. (We know that it’s out there, but it is hard to track.) What it is, though, is a sign of broad-based support among the population at large.
In Pasadena on Saturday, I happened across a handful of black people: maybe a half a dozen, total, and then another few honking in support and smiling as they drove by. I wasn’t happy with this, but I was satisfied, because middle-class Pasadena can trend a bit pale, and this movement is just starting out. Outreach will increase participation among all ethnic groups.
* And, no: I don’t subscribe to the idea that “Hispanics” are a race. (Racially, a “hispanic” is a mix of a pale European Caucasian, and a more-tan Native American Caucasian. So, just like me, but with the native ancestry south of a border that didn’t exist until the Europeans had conquered this continent. Big whup.)
And I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to Asian presence, except inasmuch as one wants to see a good demographic mix—e.g., I think I saw a gay couple there with their kid, and that struck me as desirable—certainly a sign that the focus is correctly on economic issues. There are enormous numbers of different Asian populations in Southern California, and each separate country-of-origin would bring a different political filter to current events, so Asians, as with most ethnic groups, can be left, right, or center: they do not have a history of being “owned” by one party for a generation or two.

I’m pretty sure black tea is acceptable. And probably green, white and even yellow tea.
What do you have against red tea? Raaaacccciiiiissstt!!!
You, my dear, are the racist. You don’t acknowledge hispanics or asians? I have never attended a protest in my life. I am doing so now because I am fed up with our Congress and President spending so much of my money. Yes, it is not the government’s money it is my money and every other hard working person in the U.S. Whether someone is black, brown, yellow, white, or whatever, I am protesting for them. I am not being paid to protest. Like the individuals who protested the AIG employees. In addition, in St. Louis, we are also doing a food drive and will be donating the items to local food pantries.
Debbie you said it very well.
Miss Attila I am sure you take great pleasure in displaying your enlightened understanding in your witty yet powerful posts. Sadly you demostrate your arrogance and intolerance of those that do not agree with your drivel.
I don’t get the racist thing. What does the color of a person’s skin have to do with the amount of money the government is taking from us. How do we get angry with the AIG bonuses and sit by and let our government rip us off. Come on now. I’m a conservative black female (yes we are out here), and I for one and SICK with the person that is in the White House period. He is on a mission that he CLEARLY stated while running. I am embarrassed to say that a lot of people voted for him simply because of the color of his skin and they didn’t listen to his message. Well now we are in a never ending mess. Once the government takes control of something, they will NEVER turn it over. It is sad that many people of color bought and continue to buy what this administration is selling.
