Malkin’s got a good take on it.

I know the argument now is that brick-and-mortar stores are at a disadvantage, but the online/mail order retailers have shipping costs to figure in, so I’m not sure it’s as simple as that.

And given the complexity of different sales taxes in various states—and even counties, I think it creates an unfair burden for online retailers.
