A Word on Gay Woman-Hating.
May 2, 2009
It’s no more okay than gay racism. And no more attractive.
I’m as much of a fag-hag as the next girl, and I’m not one of Ms. Prajean’s fans; I’ve got no patience for beauty contests. But sexism is sexism, just as racism is racism: being gay doesn’t give you license to throw the word “nigger” around. And calling people trannies who aren’t is juvenile—and offensive to real trannies. You don’t win the argument by maintaining that Prajean is really a MtF, anymore than you do by saying the same thing about Anne Coulter.
Or by impugning the femininity or masculinity of those with whom you disagree, because it seems like an easy shot to take.
Man the fuck up. Or woman up. Or fuckin’ something.
As Dan Collins puts it, “I don’t hate you for being a cocksucker; I hate you for being a cocksucker.”
A plague on both your houses.
UPDATE: I think AllahP has the best take. He’s addressing the “left” position here, but he might as well be addressing the “right”—”speaking as a gay marriage supporter, do you understand how much damage you’re doing?”*
I just wish we could all take a valium and fight this out like gentlemen. Or FtMs. Or MtFs. Or something.
* Yeah; there’s a dangling participle in there, but the meaning is clear enough. In any event, it’s my day off as an editor, and I’m packing for the Houston trip.

Girl with a cause…
Carrie Prejean may have lost the crown of number one winner in the Miss USA contest, but she’s not sorry, as now her brave stance on marriage has helped give her a cause:…

I’ve been informed that fag-hag isn’t vogue in some circles, and the “correct” term is Grace.
As in Will & Grace.
