Should There Be a Gitmo?

by Little Miss Attila on May 28, 2009

One argument against it.

(No, Dad: follow the link, and read the entry. It isn’t long. The thesis here is that those who commit terrorist acts, and who fight while dressed in civilian clothing [we used to call them “spies” in this country, and execute them], shouldn’t be allowed to leave their own countries—much less go to Cuba and receive special high-calorie diets, books and periodicals, copies of the Koran, and other privileges.

Geez. If we want to wring our hands about something, I’d prefer that we focus on Japanese internment during WWII, the suspension of habeas corpus during the Civil War, the treatment of Native Americans, and Jim Crow laws.)

Hmmm…give spies and saboteurs the same treatment we should be giving captured pirates?

Notice how there hasn’t been a huge increase in the number of battlefield prisoners taken? What would we do with these guys anyway.

If brought here, some Gitmo prisoners would find a liberal judge somewhere who would release them on a technicality. Even Democrats understand this. What do they do then? Go get jobs? ( actually, for a list of jobs these trained killers would be qualified to do, you can visit: http://firstconservative.com/blog/top-ten/political-humor-top-ten-occupations-for-released-terrorists )

Even if the annointed one manages to close the facility at Guantanamo Bay, The Base will still be there. We got it in the Spanish-American War as a war prize, more or less. To old Atlantic Fleet hands, such as yours truly, FTG Gitmo is one of those things we suffered through during the work up cycle prior to deployment.
As for the prisoners at Gitmo, Mike Boat, Tiedown Chains and Open Ocean. Problem solved.
