There are certain song for which I tend to prefer the studio versions.

Mary K. Blige attempts to make it less of an exercise in erotic existentialism, which is kind of a shame—but—oh! The girl can move!—:

And here’s Janis, whom I must toast like society does all those upon whom it nails to the Tree of Art:

Within ten years I understood it just a bit better.

I like the Janis studio version best too, by far. Awesome, actually.
