What If We’re Trying to Get

. . . the wrong guy fired?

Cynthia’s not backing down, and she’s willing to go it alone. I’m in; I’m just not willing to lie, or enforce a double standard, which may explain my quarrels with Stacy McCain when he himself calls women “sluts” or “whores,” and my break with Ann Coulter over the “faggot” locution.

Regarding Cynthia, however, Stacy remarks that “Dave [Letterman] has pissed off the wrong lesbian.”

Yes. He has. She’s going all Jedi on his ass. No word if the guys at HillBuzz are still in, though I suspect they are: they have an open thread up for “Day Seven” of the Letterman boycott. The Fire Letterman people are still at it.

Governor Palin has issued an artful statement saying that she doesn’t believe him, but she’s done with this, so she “accepts his apology.” In between the lines one can almost see the “sexist slime beneath my notice” phrase, but one looks again, and it’s gone.

Of course it’s accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who ‘joke’ about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.

Letterman certainly has the right to ‘joke’ about whatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express our reaction. This is all thanks to our U.S. Military women and men putting their lives on the line for us to secure America’s Right to Free Speech–in this case, may that right be used to promote equality and respect.
