But the real reason is that the night he out-quoted me in English poetry memorization it wasn’t a matter of how many dirty martinis I’d had, or his impressive cerebral cortex: it had to do with the fact that he’d only left college three weeks earlier.
Or thereabouts. (Under forty! Who knew?)
He certainly is precocious, though.
