but there was no premeditation.”
Then come back and say that in Los Angeles. Say “I messed up. I heard what I wanted to hear. I rationalized it as a seduction. I told myself it was a photo shoot and spent hours looking at a too-young teenager. I blocked out the word ‘no.’ I was a broken man, and I behaved like an asshole.”
Sack up, and say it here, Mr. Polanski. Spend a month or two in some kind of confinement. Just do it.
Because I love your movies, but this is not okay. Not. Okay.

Yes, well, his comment to Mr. Martin Amis in 1979 is probably a more truthful reflection of his actual thoughts on the matter, contemporaneously:
“If I had killed somebody, it wouldn’t have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But… fucking, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to fuck young girls. Juries want to fuck young girls. Everyone wants to fuck young girls!”
And when he ran to Europe to avoid that jail time he did pick up right where he left off with Nastassja Kinski. She was a bit long-in-the-tooth at 15, but maybe he was one of the ones she talked about when she gave the interview (in the 80s/90s) about controlling middle-age men at 13, that she had the feeling that she could get them to do anything, if she really wanted to. I bet she has a different view today.
I’ll bet she does. {{{Sigh.}}}
I didn’t mean picking up their socks or putting down the toilet seat on a dependable basis. No woman of any age has that power. Those without superpowers, that is.
She said a few years ago that if she had someone in her life who cared for her at the time and was looking out for her–like a parent does–she would have made lots of different choices. Career and personal choices. Ask her kids if she ceded all the power to them at age thirteen.
