Making Clotheslines Legal Again

by Little Miss Attila on January 4, 2010

It sounds insane, though of course the rationale is probably something like “it’s uneforceable in your backyard, and we don’t want to see your undies visible in your side yard. Or, heaven forfend, your front yard.”

Of course, I used to simply hang everything that needed air-drying up on the stairway railing. That’s getting old though, so I’ve started tossing some of my husband’s replaceable T-shirts into the dryer on “low.”

I guess I could get one of those racks, and place it on the balcony when weather permits. It had not occurred to me when we replaced our cloth-upholstery couch with a leather one that that would make it more difficult to dry my sweaters flat . . .

It may come to a beach towel and the living room floor for Those Things That Must Air-Dry.

I really don’t want to see my neighbors pissy sheets but make it illegal? Never.

I hate the idea of these HOA’s. Yeah, people say you should be free to enter into voluntary contracts or associations. Whatever. I still call BS on these. We can’t have HOA’s that ban race or religeon. Why? Because that makes a mockery of our values. Same with this clothes line stuff. A man’s home is his castle.
