I’d say we just have a higher level of proof required before we’ll accept it, generally.

SOME autism-spectrum claims are rather hooey, or describe a normal spectrum of humanity. (Called ‘geek-autism’ by the generally apolitical geeks who have it pasted on them.)

I’ve never seen genuine bipolar dismissed as a disease, though. The folks who self-diagnose, heck yeah!

Shoot, most folks on the right admit that depression is a real mental health issue, although hugely over diagnosed.

I think it’s not so much that it’s a blind spot, as that the over-use makes folks a bit cautious about constantly pasting it all over the place.

Well I’m pretty damned right wing. Still my years in law enforcement made me a firm believer in mental health issues. As a matter of fact the up close and personal view of serious metal problems have made me somewhat critical of the overuse of mental health as an excuse for just plain lazy or just plain evil in many individuals.

LMA, it’s more like we’ve seen how various left regimes have used “psychiatric issues” as an excuse to lock up dissidents over the years.
