Wolcott Phones It in for the Condie Nasties.

by Little Miss Attila on March 13, 2011

Though I would admire the “(it’s Stacy this, Stacy that), oh Stacy link to me please baby please baby please baby please)” line if he had only opened as many parentheses as he had closed. They are supposed to come in pairs, Jimmy.

Most of my link-whoring is actually reserved for Glenn Reynolds and the Volokh brothers. It’s not a question of what I am, after all–it’s a matter of the price.

Both of Wolcott’s links to me-calling-Stacy-out, however, go to the same post herein. And, of course, he’s either deliberately ignoring my many spirited defenses of feminism over the past week, or he did not bother to read them:

Why should billionaire the [sic] Koch brothers flick spare change at cicadas who are already dependably, monotonously, demagogically bashing unions, NPR, Planned Parenthood, feminism, Al Gore, Obama, and everything else on the checklist for nuthin’?

Of course, this also ignores my love of NPR’s programming–not the public funding it takes from the working poor it so often doesn’t reach, but the quality of its product. One hopes that will remain high if it ever takes off the ideological blinders that keep it serving a full 11% of the population.

I am, however, heartened to see that Mr. Wolcott is, unlike so many of his legacy-media colleagues, starting to obtain a basic grasp of economics, so there are rays of hope peeking over the progressive horizon.

And he does tip his hat to Protein Wisdom, as well; note the final Goldsteinian line:

I’m sure these intrepid bloggers have too much pride and self-respect to accept corporate charity.

Because, you know, they consider themselves OUTLAWS.

That would depend, of course, on the law in question. Always. And, like NPR, I could do a lot of good with a little corporate funding.

Now hit the tip jar, boys and girls. Hit it hard.

UPDATE, Monday morning: Instapundit suggests that I was cruel to run the photo, though it was the mildest one I could find. He claims–accurately–that Gerard was crueller still. However, Stacy has both Gerard and me beat on the Regrettable Wolcott Pix Front.

But the ugliest thing about Wolcott is not the way he looks. Rather, it lies in the fact that a writer is willing to exult in the fact that other writers are struggling financially. Particularly writers like Dan Collins, who have families. I’ve personally seen Mr. Collins get badly shortchanged by clients, and handle it with grace–despite the fact that there are special needs in his family, and it’s left them closer to the edge than anyone ought to have to live.

If that sort of thing gives Wolcott pleasure, he has some soul-searching to do.

And if it makes you mad to see soft old men delight in others’ misfortunes, go help Dan out.

UPDATE 2: Dan weighs in, as does Jerry of Goldfish and Clowns. And here’s Peter I, Da TechGuy.

And please replace that “I’m not really the King of the Combovers” puffyphoto of W. with this one so we can keep it at the top of google images FOR EVER.

Givin’ it away fer free. It’s almost as if you genuinely and independently believed in the ideas you express. He may find that hard to grasp.

Grrrr! I’d like to let my ferocious rescue dog leap on him with her terrible claws (rarely clipped) and drown out his mewling and pewling with terrifying barks…As the teen boy would say contemptuously “What a D-B!”

Yes, you should be like those brave dissenting anti-establishment rebels at the HuffPo and MoveOnLittleDoggie.commrade, and absolutely refuse to take money from corporations or billionaires with agendas!

Our Progressive Friends: Never much for principled consistency.

They are supposed to come in pairs, Jimmy.

His entire life is a repudiation of that principle.

I just followed the link here from Instapundit to find this post which is yet another example of a friggin’ blogger blogging about themselves being blogged about by another blogger. To make things worse, your writing is choppy and makes little sense to anyone who doesn’t follow you daily. Perhaps this is why you need to rattle the tip jar.

Do you expect anyone to PAY you to write about yourself or other bloggers? Hell, you should pay me for wasting my time.

To fully appreciate his awkward bulk, his super-WASP comb-over and his even worse ideas, you have to see him on the Charlie Rose show.

It’s like Charlie’s interviewing an irradiated bear.

Stacy’s photo makes Les Nessman look distinguished.

Keep in mind that Mr Wolcott is the distinguished holder of a two-year learning certificate from a small town Maryland college, from which he was forced to abscond, with the aforementioned certificate, because it was too cold for him. Also remember the “Ocecats”.

Cheers

Ah, well. A lot of people are struggling to make a living.
No one said blogging was easy.
James W is not very attractive, but most bloggers are not.
Right-wingers have done plenty of unseemly gloating of their own.
Good luck raising money. Again, it’s hard. The Koch brothers seem like a canny pair and will only pony up for people with actual influence.
Japan’s nukes are indeed melting. No one in their right mind is happy about this.
The world is a mess.
Next.
