I Know You Have All Been Wondering . . .

if reading The Gospel of Matthew while lying on my living room floor on a sleeping bag is Bible Camp, what is reading the manuscript of David’s book?

Neurobiology camp.

(Dave, the husband’s reading your short stories now. We barely have time to produce our own stuff these days—or, perhaps, we don’t want to any more. After all, there is blogging… Instant gratification. No money, but instant gratification.)

Sorry, but very confusing. We go from Bible camp to neurobiology camp to short stories to instantly gratifying blogs. What the hell?

Maybe I’m just losing my mind. After all, the other day I confused a million with a billion.

The autobiographical entries are sort of an acquired taste that is, as someone once wrote of Yoko Ono’s music, “difficult to acquire.”

Shall I see about fixing your name on the comment?

Sufficient unto the day are the troubles there in, I think Bukharin said that just before Stalin shot him, understandably. I think more playtime is called for, put aside concerns and chores and spend some me time obsessing on impending mortality and the absurdity of trying to impose logic on chaos. Try imagining yourself and everyone around you contorted into the inevitable grinning ritkus, it takes my mind of house cleaning and bills. Faith is belief in things that are wildly contradicted by the evidence such as the likely hood that two well meaning Jewish philosophers, real mensches, would come up with a system that has caused millions to suffer and killed 100 million in the process and still be espoused by more millions or that Bob P. would turn out to be a human prodigy. Go to Foxy’s, I’m always cheerier after I’ve been there.

I hope this clears everything up.
