Reynolds, on societal tropes about female-perpetrated domestic violence:

Hanna Rosin can’t be sexist, and neither can those who agree with her. If you’re Hanna Rosin, “sexist” is a name you call other people. You know, bad people who believe in stereotypes and stuff.

I had been wondering how that worked.

(And, no: I don’t have anything to say about Tiger Woods, except that he and his wife may want to look into counseling, before matters go any further. And please pray for them, because that stuff isn’t okay.)

I call it Argument by Positive Self-Evaluation:

1) Sexists are bad;
2) I’m not bad;
3) Therefore, what I do is not sexist.
