    Huh?

George W. Bush freed a couple of people from Gitmo, therefore…???

  2. Little Miss Attila said:

I think that if we stay on-track to actually close Gitmo, more potentially dangerous people will get freed prematurely.

  3. ponce said:

Why would they get freed prematurely?

  4. Darrell said:

It’s “premature” because they’re still breathing. Any other questions?

  5. pounce said:

You and LMA doubt the ability of your fellow citizens to render judgment on the detainees, Darrell?

  6. Little Miss Attila said:

    My concerns are:

    1) people getting freed who have not been cleared of wrongdoing, and who are likely to go back to plotting to kill me and other Americans;

    2) granting rights to enemy combatants as if they were citizens of the U.S. (and attaching privileges under the Geneva Convention to those who do not adhere to same); and

    3) using the law enforcement model against terrorism, and thereby forcing ourselves into a corner such that we are behaving reactively rather than proactively, and not getting as much intel as we need to keep murderous jihadis from practicing murderous jihad.

None of those have anything to do with Gitmo closing, LMA.

    The Braying of the Asses
    –A Play in Two Acts

    Act I

Asses You got to let them all go!
Why aren’t they treated according the Geneva Conventions?

Bush These are all dangerous men capured on the battlefield trying to killl Americans, some having killed Americans.
They don’t have rights beause they aren’t American citizens. The US didn’t sign those modifications to the Geneva Conventions that were
designed to extend unilateral protections to Leftists in The Baader-Meinhof Gang, Red Brigade, and hundreds of other terror groups because
the guys writing the modifications were neck-deep in connections with these groups and were looking to protect their asses and those of their families and friends. We must keep them all in Gitmo to protect us all. If we let them go, they’ll go right back to killing.

Asses This is the worst crime against humanity in the history of the world! They are being held without trial! They can’t make anti-American statements in a court of law!
They are gaining weight because of all the fat and corn syrup in their diets! Can’t you let anyone go? What about the younger guys, the known citizens of countries not involved in the conflict?

Bush We will respond to the hundreds of legal and diplomatic efforts launched by those other countries. But don’t blame me when these guys go back to doing what they intended to do all along.

    Act II

Asses Bush let these guys out of Gitmo and right from the start, most went back to committing acts of terror! Why did you let them out?

    Ghost
    of
Bush Didn’t I say that’s what would happen? Didn’t I listen to you?

Asses What the Hell do we know? Why’d you listen to us? It’s all your fault!
Oh, and we have to shut Gitmo down as soon as possible!
They are just innocent young men–in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Where are their trials? Where are there court appointed lawyers?

    The End

Um, ever wonder why we inc=vaded Saudi Arabia’s moratal enemy instead of the country that supplied the 9/11 hijackers?

Bush let these guys go because the Saudis run the Republican party.

I thought the light was better in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In the play above, the last “there” should be a “their,”of course. Not that I would modify the Asses’ transcription in the least.

And ponce. Don’t you pretend to be a real “Republican”? You need to quote HuffPo a little more to be believable then.

  11. ponce said:

It’s true I don’t consider people who constantly whine Real Republicans, Darrell.

I see them more as Beck/Palin drones…embarrassments to the party.

  12. Darrell said:

You should write all your rules down, ponce, and roll up that paper and stick it
in your shorts. Take a nice vacation somewhere on a plane, then. HuffPo recommends places under a bridge. Maybe you can live there someday. It’s
    home to your people.
