Well, See Politico. . .

In late 2001 there were other terrorist incidents on our minds. Think for a moment: it should come back to you. A shoe-bombing attempt that resulted in no flames against the wall of the airplane cabin didn’t stand out, compared to what we had just gone through as a nation.

Flames in the cabin make a difference, though. And it’s not like there wasn’t an overreaction to the shoe-bomber: some of us have to keep separate footwear just for flying, all these years later.

The distinction is this: Eight years later, our security systems are supposed to be more refined. A lot of us were hoping that people who bought one-way tickets in cash and had no luggage were subjected to heightened screening. Particularly when they’d spent time in Yemen.

Some of us were even hoping that those whose parents dropped a dime on them might end up on the “No Fly” list.

Sounds like a Dutch security problem, whiners.

No.

Someone didn’t keep up our no-fly lists.

Who’s responsible for that?

The Won, and his Homeland Security team.
