I Implore You

. . . not to use that little dab of margarine that was sitting in the refrigerator overnight, improperly sealed—and has that “refrigerator taste” to it.

But especially, do not use it on packaged macaroni and cheese. Just trust me on this one.

I implore you not to prepare packaged macaroni and cheese. I will show you a more excellent way.

1) Cook your pasta.

2) While pasta is cooking, dice up some block cheddar cheese.

3) Drain cooked pasta.

4) Put a dab of milk into the pot that you cooked the pasta in. A couple tablespoons is enough.

5) Put the cubed cheese into the pot and put it back on the stove. The milk ensures good heat transfer.

6) Put the macaroni back into the pot.

7) Carefully stir with a non-metal implement until the cheese is uniformly distributed throughout the pasta.

8) Add pepper to taste.

Don’t forget either ham or bacon crumbles. Some people also like a small amount of mustard.

On a related note, how many colors can you see in the butter before it becomes problematic?

Butter has to go very, very wrong before you see more than one color.
