Maybe we should get a chance to vote every five years on whether the pensions and other lifetime benefits of representatives should be renewed, depending on how their policies are working out. I’ll bet they’d be more thoughtful about what they stuck us with in lame-duck sessions. Or any sessions, for that matter.
