I Dunno, Stacy.

I find books written by media people—even perfectly articulate, verbal people who sound fine on radio and television—to be largely unreadable, so I’ve always suspected that a lot more people try to do their own writing than really should. Even some of these wretched celebrities.

There are all kinds of articulate people out there who simply cannot write, but don’t understand this about themselves.

The idea that there are people out there making a living as ghostwriters who also cannot write makes me want to climb up into a tower with a bucket of Kentucky Fried and a good rifle. Fortunately, I’d spend so much time trying to decide on the right make and caliber that I’m unlikely to get around to this particular multiple-victim homicide.

And the optics. What’s the best scope for a job like that? I’m not going to rely on iron sights, for crying out loud. Good glass is essential here; I might even need binos in addition to the scope.

One alternative, of course, is a good carry gun in a small-of-the-back holster. When I hear words misused I could simply take care of business on the spot.
