Pam’s House Blend, watching the restructuring of Pajamas Media with a lot less joy (in the schadenfreude sense) than one might expect. Because that monetizing-one’s-blog issue runs the ideological spectrum.
The fact is, as difficult as it is to juggle a blog with other work, it could be worse to depend on the blogosphere for an income: as a matter of fact, despite the envy I’ve felt with respect to some full-time bloggers, I’ve also perceived the stress they work under. I’ve actually encouraged some to open other revenue streams on the basis of mental health.
But the electronic life is as much an addiction as anything else, no? And there remains the fascination of what’s difficult . . . which is a blessing—and a curse—we share with the rest of our species.
