“Feeling Better?”

by Little Miss Attila on May 13, 2009

“Yes, thanks. You want coffee?”

“No, I made tea. I can’t chat for long; I’m doing research on Gitmo.”

“You have a conference call today?”

“Yes. I’m checking on whether some of the detainees might be moved to Bagram, and the recidivism rate among those who have terrorist backgrounds and have actually been released into the civilian populations of various countries.”

“Who’s the call with?”

“Um, Senator Whathisface. You know.”

“No, I don’t know. I’m good, but I’m that good. And, uh: you might want to look his name up before you call in.”

“Name?”

“Yes. The Senator’s name. The person you’ll be talking to.”

“Oh, yes. Right. Call-in information, and name. I mean, I know who he is, but I’ll want that. Wait: is the accent on the first syllable, or the second syllable, in ‘Bagram’?”

“I think you’ve got it right. But get that name.”

“Yes. Name. All right.”

The rest of you guys don’t have to put up with me in the morning; be grateful for that.
