Well, duh. We’re the party of liberty and equality—remember?
The Bush Administration was the most gay-friendly administration in history. Evah.
Via Althouse over at Insty’s place. She suggests that Cheney’s just “doing his usual thing of currying favor with the lefties.”

I am sure the former vice president had many talks with his gay daughter about this subject, therefore, it should not come as a surprise to anyone.
What boggles my mind is the number of social conservatives who expect parents of lesbians and gays to take sides against their own children, to wish inequality for their own children, or even to disown their children — all in the name of family values.
I’m also totally boggled by the very real gratitude and affection I felt for Dick Cheney yesterday when he made these remarks, and for Mary Cheney, whose role in helping homosexuals to gain equality in the U.S. has been drastically under-estimated.

I know there’s a lot of soc-cons out there, and this is a very important issue for them. I understand their arguments, and I know there’s some truth behind them.
I also know that ten years ago this wasn’t even on the radar.
But Dick Cheney’s attitude is the right one for us, I think.
