The best sleeping bag ever was made for me by my grandmother, and it was shaped like a mermaid, with a green vest over the bodice and rows and rows of sequins on its tail. She used an army surplus down sleeping bag, and for when I wasn’t sleeping in it, provided a painted wig form with a wig, so my mermaid wouldn’t be headless. (The face she painted on it did, of course, have its eyes closed.)
I wish I had kept it, or at least gotten good pictures of it. I reminded her of it several weeks ago, and thanked her again. She was pleased that I remembered it, and told me she had fun making it.
I’m glad she didn’t make it to 100; I think she was getting awfully bored, toward the end, there.
So this is only the second best sleeping bag ever. But it’s a nice one!
