Ya know—Suicide Is Painless…

At least for the government that encourages veterans to “give their all for this country.” Yet one more time.

This administration is fuckin’ shameless.

And the shameless title goes out to the obambozo’s minions and that worthless piece of shit that is Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs. My kid was in te Regular Army when shinseki was Chief of Staff. The grunts and mechanics couldn’t stand the dirtbag. I am trying to keep it clean.
Comparison: I was in jimmy caatah’s Navy. Do the math.

Joy,
I have read your site for months, and it gives me hope that something of America is still alive. I get so discouraged but you usually buck up my spirits. You were in the Navy during the Carter admin. I pity you for that. Carter was my all time worst president, until recently. I was in the Army during the Nixon admin, fun times, yeah. Vietnam was lost, but we were still there. Anyway, I now work for the Army as an engineering tech on ammunition developement. Some skills are still valuable, even for an old fat guy. Keep telling the truth, it astounds your enemies.
Mike

Thank you so much for your kind words, Mike! Just a little clarification: I never served, though several of my readers have, such as Glenn, whose comment appears above. My husband is a former Marine who would have been sent to Viet Nam had he not been recruited into the MP, and his cousin was in Navy Intel during the action in Viet Nam. My husband’s best friend was an Army LRRP in Viet Nam.

Despite that, my familiarity with the Armed Forces is pathetic enough to make Baldilocks (who is of course an Air Force vet) laugh at how I trip over military terms. If it weren’t for Band of Brothers, I fear I’d know nothing at all.

But I talk like a sailor! And I do know my sidearms, most of the time.

And I am going to work for the Air Force at Edwards! An old Navy A6, A7, T2 and component repair guy working at the premier Air Force R and D installation. Who would have thought!!!!!!!!!!!
Those of us who were in Naval Aviation tend to pick on the Air Force. We have been around for 98 years. My Momtends to get into me about this, since when she married Dad, he was in the Air Force. “You are here because of the Air Force!” is what she would tell me. Things have come full circle.
I missed Vietnam by “this much”. When I enlisted in 73, the Bureau of Personnel in DC sent me to the East Coast aboard USS Independence CV62. She is now awaiting her fate at the Inactive Ship Facility in Bremerton, WA. Rumor has it she will be sunk as a target. It had been hoped that she would be used as an artificial reef as did Oriskany a few years ago.

Once a Marine, always a Marine.

AtH is a discharged Marine, not a retired Marine. Only those Marines who are tossed from the service for misconduct become “former Marines” or “ex-Marines.”
